ランニングウェア用途として、非常に高い機能性を持つ素材を使いながら、かつそのスポーツらしさをそぎ落とすような製品が作れないか、このような考えを出発点として、Arrowシリーズの開発にとりかかりました。
ハードなトレイルランニングや陸上競技の選手にも使ってもらえるような高い機能性を持ち、しかしながら既存の競技ウェアなどにはないカジュアルさも持つ、そんな製品に仕上がったと思っています。

素材面において、ランニングというアクティビティに対して大変高いレベルで各機能がバランスされた高機能素材を採用しています。
まず耐摩擦や引き裂きに対し非常に強い素材となっています。トレイルランニングにおける、枝などとの接触に対しての強さ、また長時間ザックと接触し続ける摩擦に対しての強さに特長があります。それでいて、硬すぎることなく、しなやかで軽やかな風合いを持ちます。実重量も軽く、また吸水性、速乾性、UVカットなどのランニングウェアとしての基本性能も高いレベルで兼ね備えます。更には接触冷感性を持ち、暑い時期のランニング、強度の高いランニング時にストレスを軽減します。

一方で、そのようなスーパーテクニカルな素材を使いながら、デザインワークによって、あえて見た目のテクニカルさを軽減しています。中身はテクニカルだけど、一見それとはわからないようにする、この一要素がTANNUKIが作るレゾンデートルになると思っています。ワンボタンのヘンリーネック仕様でカジュアルな雰囲気を醸します。またハニカム柄の化繊素材が独特な風合いを生み出します。

―デザインポイント
上部はシンプルなヘンリーネックのシャツになるように、下部にはTANNUKI独自のダイアゴナルパターンによるポケットが配置されたデザインとなっています。
上部のシンプルさによって、他のアイテムとも合わせやすいデザインとなっています。襟にボタンがついたヘンリーネックにはベンチーレーションという機能性を付加することもさることながら、胸元にポイントを作ることで、1枚で着ても成立するデザイン性があります。ちなみにヘンリーネックの由来は、ロンドンテムズ川上流の町「ヘンリー」で行われたヘンリーレガッタというボートレースの選手達が着ていたことに由来するようです。

左裾にポケットが付きます。Satoシリーズからの流れを組むポケットですが、斜めの切り替え線を利用した収まりの良いデザインとなっています。マチが付いているため中のモノが飛び出しにくい仕様となっています。もともとはトレイルランニング時のジェルを入れる用途として開発されましたが、トップスにもポケットがあるのは何かと便利です。

腕周りの可動域を妨げないラグランスリーブのショートスリーブタイプになります。

―素材ポイント
まず強度を高めているのはコーデュラ素材になります。コーデュラとはインビスタ社が開発した、強さと軽さを両立した素材になります。強度は通常のナイロンの7倍ともいわれています。このコーデュラブランドのナイロン糸をベースに、特にストレッチ性能をプラスするポリウレタン糸を加えています。この特殊なブレンドによって、各種機能を高いレベルで併せ持つ素材が完成しています。
ザックとの擦れなどでも生地の痛みやピリングが発生しにくい耐摩擦強度、障害物などとの接触に対しての穴あきなどを防ぐ耐引き裂き強度、汗を素早く吸収する吸水性、吸収した汗を拡散させ素早く乾かせる速乾性、着心地を高め、また動きを妨げないストレッチ性や肌触りの良さ、紫外線から肌を守るUCカット性能、触れた時の冷感を発揮する接触冷感性、それぞれに特徴のある繊維を組み合わせることでこれらの機能を実現しています。

At the starting point of the development of the Arrow series, we asked ourselves whether it was possible to create a product that simultaneously utilized materials with extremely high functionality for running wear purposes and stripped away the overtly "sporty" aesthetic. As a result, we believe we’ve achieved a product that offers exceptional functionality—usable even by athletes engaged in demanding trail running or track and field events—while also incorporating a casualness not found in existing competition wear.

In terms of materials, we have selected a highly functional fabric that offers a well-balanced combination of features specifically designed for running.
First, the material is highly resistant to abrasion and tearing. It is especially strong against contact with branches during trail running and the abrasion caused by prolonged contact with a backpack. Despite this durability, the material is not overly stiff, maintaining a supple and lightweight texture. Additionally, it is physically lightweight while also providing advanced basic functionalities expected of running wear, such as water absorption, quick-drying properties, and UV protection. Furthermore, it features contact cooling properties, which help reduce stress during running in hot weather or high-intensity conditions.

On the other hand, while utilizing such super-technical fabric, the design intentionally reduces its technical appearance. Although the material is technical on the inside, we aimed to present it in a way that makes this less immediately apparent. This approach forms an essential part of TANNUKI’s raison d'être. The Henley neck design with a single button gives the piece a casual vibe, while the honeycomb-patterned synthetic material provides a unique texture.

— Design Highlights
The upper part has been designed to resemble a simple Henley neck shirt, while the lower part incorporates TANNUKI’s unique diagonal patterning with pockets. The simplicity of the top section allows it to easily pair with other items. The Henley neck features a functional ventilation mechanism, and its design creates a highlight around the chest area, ensuring the shirt looks complete even when worn on its own. Incidentally, the term "Henley neck" originates from the Henley Regatta, a boat race held in Henley, a town upstream on the River Thames in London, where rowers originally wore this shirt style.

A pocket is placed near the left hem. Carrying forward the tradition of the Sato series, the pocket is designed with an angled seam, creating a structured and efficient storage space. Thanks to the added gusset, items within the pocket are less likely to fall out. Originally developed for holding energy gels during trail running, the pocket proves itself versatile and handy for various purposes when placed on a top.

The shirt adopts a short-sleeve raglan design, ensuring ease of movement around the arms.

— Material Highlights
The high levels of strength are thanks to the use of Cordura fabric. Cordura is a material developed by INVISTA Corporation that combines both durability and lightweight properties. Its strength is said to be seven times that of conventional nylon. This Cordura-brand nylon thread is blended with polyurethane yarn, which significantly enhances its stretchability. Thanks to this unique combination, the fabric successfully brings together a wide range of high-level functionalities, such as:

• Abrasion resistance to minimize wear caused by contact with a backpack or other surfaces
• Tear resistance to prevent punctures or tears from collisions with obstacles
• Water absorption to efficiently soak up sweat
• Quick-drying performance to rapidly disperse and evaporate absorbed sweat
• Stretchability and comfort to ensure a comfortable fit without restricting movement
• Skin-friendly texture
• UV protection to shield the skin from harmful ultraviolet rays
• Contact cooling properties, providing a cooling sensation when touched

This carefully engineered combination of fibers makes these features possible.
